Me and my college friends will be having a small get together this Friday. I think the last time I saw them was during Toni’s wedding 5 years ago. Tagal na noh! The original plan was an overnight swimming, but due to our busy schedules, we have decided to avail a suite room in one of the condotels in Makati for this small gathering and will just have our food delivered. We had an online reservation and paid only 10% of the room rate using Cy’s credit card. Since the hotel is near my office, I was assigned to go to the hotel earlier so that I can get the room number and get the hotel key. But, unfortunately, I won’t be staying late because I still have to prepare for the next day’s company outing. Anyway, I’m looking forward seeing them again after 5 years. 😀

We’re here in my parent’s house in Cavite. Abeth and I decided to bring Andre here for a few days of vacation before the school starts. Abeth brought us here last night and left early morning to go back to Bulacan to report to work. He will be back on Saturday night and we’ll all go back to Bulacan by Monday morning.

Our house is 31 years old, the same age as I am. It was built when I was born and now looks so old. All the old stuff and furniture, like blankets, my stuffed toys, door mats, pillows, sofa, and tables are still there because my parents are too sentimental to dispose them. Most of the walls and ceilings were destroyed by termites.

**Sigh** If I won the lottery, I will renovate my parent’s house, the house where I grew up and learned so many things. There are so many memories in this house and would be happy if we would be able to restore it.

There have been earthquakes in different parts of the world, and our country is not spared from this calamity. I have actually watched a video from CNN about how ready are we when an earthquake hits Manila. Here’s the video:

I’m afraid we are not. We have several buildings and houses that are too old and substandard. Buildings here are not safe because of contractors that are corrupt. I hope our local contractors are certified with the Building Performance Institute (BPI) in the US, a leading developer of technical standards for home performance and weatherization retrofit work that are recognized across North America. Like them, our local contractors should undergo bpi training. We should all be prepared.

Eczema in babies

Yesterday, we went to Andre’s pedia to have his flu shot. We waited for more than an hour because there were so many patients and we weren’t able to go to the clinic earlier because Andre woke up at 9:30 AM. I’m glad we brought the PSP to entertain him so that Andre won’t get bored waiting for his turn because we will be entertained after patient number 16 pa. There were so many patients and I noticed one of the babies with reddish and scaly face. I asked the mom what happened to the baby and told me that it was eczema. I felt bad for the baby because she was so irritated that time because of the itchy feeling. 😦

Surprised

Tomorrow is Andre’s 4th birthday celebration. We invited some of our closest friends and closest relatives to celebrate with us. One of my cousins arrived at our house today and I was so surprised to see her having too many pimples on her face. She used to have a very good skin, but now, she had acne all over her face. She didn’t know what causes this pimple outbreak. So, I recommended her to consult a dermatologist and ask the best acne treatment lotion that will help treat her skin problem. I hope she’ll be able to get rid of them. She’s pretty pa naman.

Last Sunday, we dropped by at the Balintawak Home Depot along EDSA before going home from our Tagaytay Trip. It is a one-stop shop for those who are planning to build their house. You can find almost everything that you’ll need in constructing your dream home: from lightings to paints, doors to windows, tiles to kitchen sinks, and a lot more. We were able to check and jot down their prices. We were also able to visit the other shop that is just across the Home Depot and saw designs for the living room, kitchen, and dining area. We also loved their modern bedroom furnitures and gave us an idea on the design of our bedroom. We are so excited to build our dream home and we hope that we could start the construction within the year.
